Do you remember the good old days when you could go in and apply for a job, and the employer would only have to check your application and your education history to see if you were right for the part? Well those days are long gone my friend, and because of this, a pre employment background check is almost a sure thing at every interview. As it turns out, not everyone tells the truth on their application; imagine that. Thus to make sure you are telling the truth a lot of businesses have to compare the information you give out on your application to information that comes back in your screening. If you have lied on your application, then they will know right away. Companies did not use to go through all this because it took a long time to get this information. Now, thanks to the internet, they are able to get this information super fast.
Checking the accuracy of your application is a must for businesses, and if you look at it from their point of view, you will see why. Making sure that the information you put down is truthful can help them avoid possible risks in their decision making. Not only could they be looking at losing productivity and money, but they may be putting other co-workers at risk. These are chances that many businesses are not willing to take. Pretty much, anything that you have done in your life is an open book for them to read. Judging by the past choices that you have made, they can make a good choice on if you are the right person for the part. In a way, this should make you happy. After all, if you are the right person for the spot, you do not want someone else to get it because they lied do you? Pretty much, the goal they are trying to reach is finding out if you have the behaviors and skills that you listed on your application.
These new screening methods are pretty cool, and because they are done mostly by computers, they must be 100% accurate, right? Unfortunately that is not a true statement. Just like anything else, there are mistakes that can be made. The problem that we are facing is the fact that if a mistake is made here, it could cost someone a job. This is why companies are supposed to give you a copy of the report that they get. They are also supposed to tell you the reason why (if it has to do with the report) they chose not to hire you. This is your chance to tell your side of the story, and dispute any information that you feel is wrong. Then you can have the information checked out for yourself. I mean, if you are not the right person for the job, that is one thing, however, if you do not get a job because of some mistake in information, then that is just plain wrong. However, most companies are aware of the fact that this can happen, and they will be more than happy to work with you on it. After all, they want to hire you for the job, they do not want to have to spend the money doing another screening on someone else.
These types of employment screenings are now a way of life. If you have been out to get a new job lately, then you are very aware of this. However, it does not stop after you get hired. A lot of the time they will do random screenings of workers to make sure they are keeping their noses clean and not bringing any problems to the work place. With all the untruthful people out there you can not blame these companies for wanting to make sure you are who you say you are. Companies do this not only to protect themselves, but to protect us as well. Keeping people like that out of the work place is very important to people in this day and age. So the next time you have to go through an employment screening, do not feel bad and do not be so mad that they do this. In the end, it is really there to help all of us live a better life.
